OMG! OMG (oh my god), LOL (lot of laugh) a FYI (for your information) sú už oficiálne platné anglické slová! Pribudli tak ku ďalším, už uplatneným skratkám ako napríklad TMI (too much information) alebo BFF (best friends forever) v Oxfordskom slovníku Angličtiny. Takisto pribudla aj skratka WAG (wives and girlfriends), používaná hlavne pri futbale.

Medzi neskratkovými slovami ktoré pribudli sú napríklad "heart" ako sloveso (I heart cakes je už spisovná veta), ale aj "headline" a "car crash"... To tam doteraz akože neboli?

Slová pribudli primárne kvôli dlhodobému používaniu ľudí a tomu, že im rozumela väčšina národa. Konkrétne, prvé zmienky o slove OMG sú z osobného listu z roku 1917, FYI z roku 1941, aj keď prvé zmienky o slove LOL boli až z roku 1960, kedy ešte znamenala "little old lady." Na prekvapenie, slovo "wassup" sa do slovníku znovu nedostalo a nikto nevie prečo...
